About Clonakilty Town

Clonakilty is a vibrant, friendly, and colourful seaside town located in the heart of west Cork, in the South of Ireland. The county of Cork is the largest and most southerly in Ireland and is the third most populated; Cork City is linked to Clonakilty by a regular bus service and is approximately an hour away. The town has a wide variety of shops and services together with a well stocked library, a number of public parks, and several preschools and schools for pupils of all ages. There is also a further education college for adult learners, and good local opportunities for employment.

West Cork is very popular with tourists, and Clonakilty is surrounded by beautiful beaches and home to a rich food and music culture. At the buzzing Friday market, you’ll find local organic farmers, cheesemakers, foragers, fishmongers, bakers, and coffee roasters, along with those selling treats from elsewhere in Europe and the East.  The town has a well established music scene and boasts a number of festivals throughout the year including pop, rock and traditional Irish music. It is widely known as a welcoming town and has people from all over the world who have chosen to make it their home.
