Co-ordinator of Migrant Support Services (Part-Time)
LOCATION: CLONAKILTY, WEST CORK.
HOURS: 20 hours per week
CONTRACT: Permanent (subject to funding)
CLOSING DATE: FRIDAY 2ND JUNE 2023 2PM
Purpose of the post:
Overall role: to support individuals, families and children who are living in the IPAS accommodation centre in Clonakilty to access services in the community and to develop new initiatives that will address their health and social needs.
The co-ordinator will provide one to one information, support and referral. The Co-ordinator will work closely with other service providers in an inter-agency and multidisciplinary capacity.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To provide information to International Protection Applicants, Refugees and Migrants to support their access to healthcare and existing support networks.
- To operate outreach clinics in the direct provision centre and/or other settings as appropriate.
- To develop work in line with the implementation of the White Paper on Ending Direct Provision recommendations and intercultural health strategy in conjunction with colleagues in the community and voluntary sector.
- To provide group information sessions to International Protection Applicants, Refugees and Migrants.
- Network with locally based representative/support groups and local based services e.g. Refugee and Migrant Support Groups, Family Resource Centres, Community Development Projects to ensure the needs of International Protection Applicants, Refugees and Migrants are being supported and to minimise duplication.
- Proactively identify the needs of International Protection Applicants, Refugees and Migrants and collaborate with stakeholders (internally and externally) to develop culturally appropriate community development responses.
- To encourage this group of Migrants to play an active part in the development and operation of community & voluntary services in the community.
- To provide information and training to health professionals and those working in the community & voluntary sector in order to enhance intercultural working on the ground.
- The Co-ordinator will be responsible for applications to all relevant funding streams/opportunities and the administration of this funding.

- Occasional out of Hours work is to be expected.
Experience and Qualifications:
- A recognised 3rd level qualification in Youth & Community Work, Social Work, Social Science or an equivalent qualification
AND - Have a minimum of 2 years’ experience of working with Community groups or Organisations
Or - Have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in working with Ethnic Minority Communities and in particular International Protection Applicants and Refugees.
- Full Clean Driving Licence.
This position is subject to Garda Vetting.
