You’re never too deep in the woods, to walk away from domestic abuse

This year Cork Kerry Refugee Resettlement Initiative completed the development of an animated video called “You’re never too deep in the woods, to walk away from domestic abuse”. This video was made with help and support with the following stakeholders; Nasc Ireland, YANA, West Cork Women Against Violence, Cuanlee, Clonakilty Friends of Asylum Seekers, Amal (Muslim Women’s Association) and it was approved by Women’s Aid. It was created to help women of all nationalities recognise the signs of domestic abuse and where to find help and support in Ireland. The video was created in a very visual way to convey key messages to women who have difficulty understanding English. The animations in the video represent women from all nationalities and it is my hope that we can get this video translated into a number of languages.

This resource is ideal for promoting awareness but also very useful as an education tool for services to inform hard-to-reach cohorts on how to recognise domestic abuse and how to find a path to safety.

I would be very grateful if you would consider promoting these videos during this year’s 16 Days Against Gender Based Violence which will be occurring from 25th November until 12th December. In the New Year we will review the impact the videos have had and make a plan for further translations based on the findings.
